INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Jeffrey Glassberg.
On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price interviewed Jeffrey Glassberg, Ph.D., President of the North American Butterfly Association and inventor of DNA fingerprinting.
They discussed why butterflies matter to people and how butterflies are a critical component of the world’s ecosystems with adult butterflies pollinating plants and caterpillars serving as the most important food source for nesting songbirds. The beauty, grace and magical transformation from caterpillar to adult butterfly all speak to the human spirit. Unfortunately, butterfly populations in North America are rapidly declining, mainly due to habitat loss, pesticide use and invasive non-native plants. This was demonstrated in a recent scientific article which Glassberg co-authored. NABA, the North American Butterfly Association, is directly conserving butterflies and changing people’s approach to butterflies from one of nets and killing them, to using binoculars and cameras to observe and document them. Butterflying is a rapidly-growing activity and trying to identify fast-moving, similar-looking butterflies in the field is fun and akin to a challenging video game. The exposure to nature, the low-impact exercise, and the need to intensely focus on butterflies, thus reducing stress, lead to increased health and an improved sex life.
